1. Visit a Dental Practitioner only when you have Tooth Pain:

- "NOOO...". A big "NO" to this myth because once your tooth starts paining that means you have lost your natural tooth.
- So, is it wise to wait until your tooth pains? The obvious answer is "NO".
- Human Tooth essentially has 3 layers:
        (I) Enamel- The Outer Layer.
        (II) Dentin- The Middle Layer.
        (III) Pulp- The Innermost Layer.
- When your tooth starts painting it means that the decay has reached the innermost layer which is irreversible.
After this stage, the ideal solution would be either removal of the tooth (EXTRACTION) or saving the tooth artificially by doing Root Canal Treatment (RCT) depending upon the situation of the tooth clinically.
- To avoid all this trauma of losing your natural tooth you can simply observe your teeth daily for black spots and if u find one then go to a DENTIST and get a restoration done.
- Visiting a DENTIST every 6 MONTHS helps prevent chronic dental diseases in the long term which saves you your money, pain, and most importantly your TOOTH.

2. Removal of teeth can cause permanent blindness:

- Being a dental practitioner I get to hear this a lot because most people think that the nerves around the face are connected.
- But, it is FALSE. The nerves supplying the teeth and eyes are completely separate and removal of any teeth doesn't affect the eyes.
- Hence removal of teeth doesn't cause permanent blindness.

3. Scaling makes teeth weak:

- On the contrary, Not getting scaling done regularly can make your teeth and gums weak.
- Scaling is a procedure done to clean teeth and it is advised to get scaling done every 6 months to reduce the formation of deposits and accumulation of bacteria in the mouth.
- When scaling is not done regularly, there is an increase in the growth of deposits in the mouth which makes the gums weak eventually making the teeth weaker.
- So, Regular Scaling makes the teeth stronger.

- Yes, Clove has medicinal properties and it can provide temporary relief from tooth pain but it cannot remove the infection from the teeth.
-The most common reason for tooth pain is Infected Pulp, so it is highly recommended to get the necessary dental treatment done and eliminate the cause of tooth pain.
- When there is tooth pain, its advisable to visit the dentist and take necessary dental treatment.

- In the oral cavity, teeth always drift towards the missing spaces.
- When a tooth is removed, the adjacent and the opposite teeth try to move towards the missing space which makes these teeth weak and fall off.
- Hence, it is always ideal to replace the missing teeth with artificial teeth to avoid multiple teeth loss.

These few myths are the most commonly accounted ones in daily practice.

Its time for all of us to come out of the myths that society binds us with and accumulate knowledge to become more aware of the facts and logical explanations concerning our health.
